David paints on a glorious day in the Peak District with the last of the winter snow still lying on the ground. He then travels in early spring to the spectacular scenery of Cinque Terre in Italy, five little villages built into the rocks between the sea and the steeply terraced hillsides. Here he paints views of the busy streets and harbours with their brightly coloured houses and boats.

Inspiring demonstrations filled with valuable advice. Few instructors pack so much in so well in only 90 minutes. Wish the palette was shown a bit more.

The first two studies are most appropriate for landscape painting in GB,one against the light and the
other with light behind the painter.A rapid method of
blocking in a pre-prepared board is used to determine
lighting features that will not change leaving more fugitive light patterns until later.Shows what a tonally trained eye can achieve along with rapid paint mixing. The hints on board texture and pre-mixing of paint are important especially for speed.
